3/9/14 - Ramseys' Major Marvel Takes Barbados Gold Cup Ken and Sarah Ramsey enjoyed a win in the Caribbean March 8 when veteran Major Marvel cruised to a clear victory in the $214,000 Sandy Lane Barbados Gold Cup at Savannah Garrison Racecourse. Riding for trainer Mike Maker, Patrick Husbands guided the 8-year-old Bernstein gelding a 3 1/2-length victory in the 1 1/8-mile race that is considered grade I event locally. He is one of the many excellent claims Mike has made. He has earned $698,328 in 53 starts with 22 of them WINS!

3/8/14 - THANK YOU MARYLOU (f, 3, Birdstone--Menifeeque, by Menifee) came running late to secure a three-length victory in the Any Limit S. at Gulfstream. She stalked the pace from third and as the favorite began to tire turning for home, Thank You Marylou was finding her best gear three wide and she glided easily to the lead in deep stretch.
Lifetime Record: 3-2-1-0, $128,200.

3/2/14 - Mike had a nice days at the races. ALWAYS KITTEN came like a freight train 7 wide to take the Jersey Lilly S at Sam Houston for the Rmseys, also at Housten for the Ramseys, Kowboy Boots added more black type running third in the Texas Heritage S. For Skychai, Mike added black type for SW HARRY'S HOLIDAY with a third in the John Battaglia Memorial S. at Turfway.

2/22/14 - VICAR'S IN TROUBLE had trouble breaking from the outside and racing wide in the Risen Star G2 and checked in third.
He is owned by the Ramseys.

1/25/14 - G1 SW ADMIRAL KITTEN added to his laurels, winnning the G3- John B Connally Turf Cup S at Houston. He has earned over $725,000 for owner/breeders Kenneth L & Sarah K Ramsey. On the same day, Kowboy Boots earned black type, also at Houston, running third in the Allens Landing S. He is also owned by the Ramseys.

1/18/14 - VICAR'S IN TROUBLE demolished Louisiana State breds by 13-lengths going six furlongs Dec. 13 and earned the right to jump up into graded stakes company in the Lecomte S. G3 . Although he raced a bit greenly, he had no trouble winning by more than 6 lengths. The next race in the series is the $400,000 GII Risen Star S. to be contested at a mile and a sixteenth Feb. 22. Vicar's in Trouble is owned by the Ramseys and was bred by Spendthrift.

On the same day Mike's own Ghost Is Clear ran second in the Forego S at Turfway. Mike claimed him in 2012 for $10,000 and he has had multiple wins and stakes placings since then. He has earned over $275,000.

12/7/13 - All in all it was a good day at Gulfstream, claimed for the Ramseys in April of 2012, MAJOR MARVEL won the Claiming Crown Emerald S  this year and was second last year. Since being claimed, he also traveled to Mountineer to win the West Virginia House of Delegates Speaker's Cup Stakes, and to Louisiana Downs to win the Unbridled Stakes. His earnings are closing on $700,000. On the same day, Ghost Is Clear, also claimed by Mike, but this time for himself, ran second in the Rapid Transit S . Finally Brandy's Secret led until deep stretch and finished third in the Tiara S for Hot Pink Slipper and Skychai Racing, LLC.

12/1/13 - G1 SW ADMIRAL KITTEN rallied to be second in the Hollywood Derby G1 for owner/breeders Kenneth L & Sarah K Ramsey. Winner of the Secretariat G1 at Saratoga, ADMIRAL KITTEN also ran second in the Jamaica H G1.

11/29/13 - Ramsey homebred MSW ALWAYS KIITTEN added more black type to her page running second in the Pago Hop at the Fair Grounds. She has earned over $150,000 for her connections.

11/9/13- Two year old filly Perky Kitten is already stakes placed before breaking her maiden. She ran a very game second in the El Joven S. at Retama Park. She is a Ramsey homebred. She lunged at the break and ran greenly but gamely to garner the black type. Watch for her to win next out.

- Former claimer and now multiple stakes winner AWESOME FLOWER ran third in the G2 Chilukki S. Recently she won the H.B.P.A. Stakes at Presque Isle Downs. She was claimed for the Ramseys in late 2012. She has earned over 1/4 million.

10/25/13 - Mike led three over today at Keeneland and they all found the winner's circle - two for the Ramseys and one for F Thomas Conway!

10/13/13 - LONGHUNTER (GB) won the Kentucky Downs Turf Dash Stakes last out, today he was third in the G1- Nearctic S. He was claimed for the Ramseys for $16,000 in April.

10/12/13 - KITTEN'S DUMPLINGS takes the Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup - G1. Mike's patient and special handling helped get this nervous filly to the winner's circle with still another Breeders' Cup probable for the Ramseys.

10/5/13 - Mike had a great weekend. Former claimer BERNIE THE MAESTRO won the Michael G. Schaefer Memorial Stakes at Indiana Downs for his 17th win in 56 starts! He is owned by the Ramseys. At the same track and also for the Ramseys, ALWAYS KITTEN won the Tawee S. Femme Fatale was third in the same race for owner Padua Stable. For the Ramseys again, ADMIRAL KITTEN was second in the G1 Jamaica S at Belmont.

9/26/13 - Former claimer and now multiple stakes winner AWESOME FLOWER won the H.B.P.A. Stakes at Presque Isle Downs drawing off convincingly. She was claimed for the Ramseys in late 2012. She is closing in on 1/4 million in earnings.

9/14/13 - Mike does it again and wins the Kentucky Downs Turf Dash S with former claimer LONGHUNTER (GB). Mike claimed LONGHUNTER (GB) for the Ramseys for $16,000 in April at Keeneland. He has since won three races for the new connections with the five year old gelding whose resume is filled with back class.

While at Kentucky Downs, Mike trained Mongol Boss broke his maiden in a MSW for owner Frank D Irvin. Mongol Boss has been knocking on the door and already has earnings over $82,000.

9/7/13 - Mike was busy at Louisiana Downs with 2 year olds and older horses. The remarkable 7 year old MAJOR MARVEL made his 50th start count, winning the Unbridled S for his 20th win lifetime. He is owned by the Ramseys and is closing in on $600,000 in earnings. Two year old filly Bern Legacy added black type to her resume in the Happy Ticket S for owner Connie M Apostelos and two year old colt Thunder Run ran third in the Sunday Silence S. for his owner Skychai Racing LLC . At Churchill, AWESOME FLOWER ran third in the Locust Grove for the Ramseys. Since being claimed at the end of 2012 for $30,000 she has added a stakes win and a stakes placing to her pedigree page.

9/2/13 - Homebred DERBY KITTEN stepped up to the plate again and won the Cliff Guilliams H at Ellis for the Ramseys. He has now earned $419,485.

8/17/13 - Mike helped the Ramseys toward their goal as leading owners at Saratoga with the victory of ADMIRAL KITTEN in the Secretariat S. G1. He has earned $459,080 in 8 starts with 3 wins and 4 seconds.

8/11/13 - A stakes winner in her first start, THANK YOU MARYLOU ran third in the Adirondack S G2 at Saratoga. She got bounced around at the start and ended up fanning 5 wide to get up for the show. She is owned by the Ramseys.

8/3/13 - Although it did not help the Ramseys on the Saratoga front, Mike won the West Virginia Senate Presidents Cup with PRISSY for them , and had a second in the West Virginia House Of Delegates with DERBY KITTEN. The Ramseys also got a second in an $80,000 2 year old MSW race at Saratoga with Bold Visionary. Additionally Mike won the Shakopee Juvenile S at Canterbury with two year old GENERAL JACK for himself and partner F Thomas Conway and for Thomas Conway alone, Impassable Canyon finished 3rd in the Mystic Lake Derby   at Canterbury.

8/2/13 - Mike won 3 races today at Saratoga for the Ramseys in their quest to be leading owner at the meet.

7/24/13 - Lake George: KITTEN'S DUMPLING Wins Again. This is her third stakes win in a row! She was coming off back-to-back scores in the Edgewood and Regret (gr. III) stakes at Churchill. She has earned $433,262 in 10 starts for her owner/breeders The Ramseys.

7/14/13 -Multiple stakes winner LOTTA LOVIN kept the hot streak going running second in the Northern Fling at Presque Isle. She has now bankrolled $272,1872 for owner William J Butler and breeder Horses of Course Inc.

7/13/13 -Quite a weekend for Mike and the Ramseys. DARK COVE flew home to win the Stars and Stripes G3 at Arlington Park, setting a new track record. READ MORE Also at Arlington Park., the Ramseys' Kitten's Joy progeny ARTEMUS KITTEN ran second in the G3- Modesty H and ADMIRAL KITTEN ran second in the G3- American Derby.  To cap it all off , AWESOME FLOWER came home first in the Lady Canterbury S at Canterbury Park and two year old filly THANK YOU MARYLOU made her first start not only a winning one, but a stakes winning one as she collared the Tippett S.

7/12/13 - Here come the two year olds! Mike won first out with the 2 year old Curlin filly Baroness Rose at Ellis for Skychai Racing LLC. She split horses and cleared by 3 lengths.

7/0113 - Mike tied for leading trainer for Chuchill spring meet! The race for leading trainer came down to the final race of the spring meet. The 4-5 favorite Buzzin At Midnight won for Mike Maker to give him a share of the title with Steve Asmussen with 35 wins each.

6/28/13 - Mike helps the Ramseys Break Churchill Downs Single-Season Record for number of wins!

6/15/13 - KITTEN'S DUMPLINGS in her usual come from behind style swung way out to challenge the field and take the Regret S. G3 at Churchill Downs. Other Kittens earning black type for Mike and the Ramseys were ARTEMUS KITTEN third in the Girls, Inc Of Shelbyville at Indiana Downs and DERBY KITTEN third in the J Kenneth Self Shelby County Boys also at Indiana Downs. DERBY KITTEN has earned $368,235 and ARTEMUS KITTEN has earned $245,522. Mike had good luck for Skychai Racing LLC again at Indiana Downs with MORO TAP running third in the Centaur H.

5/25/13 - Mike had a very productive weekend with DARK COVE winning the Louisville H., G3 at Churchill for the Ramseys and bumping earnings a hair under $400,000. At Arlington, Admiral Kitten ran second in the Arlington Classic G3 again for the Ramseys and LOTTA LOVIN ran third in the Arlington Matron G3. Admiral Kitten has been on the board in 5 of 6 lifetime starts and LOTTA LOVIN has earned more than $250,000 for her owner William Butler.

5/03/13 - Admiral Kitten second in the G2 American Turf S and KITTEN's DUMPLINGS scored in the Edgewood. READ MORE

5/02/12 - FEAR THE KITTEN did not draw into the Derby.

4/30/13 - Because a spot may be open, Mike has entered FEAR THE KITTEN to the KY Derby. He will be an Also Eligible with the entry of Giant Finish who has more points.

4/26/13 - Leading trainer honors went to Mike Maker, who won 25 races this meet, the most by a trainer in a single Keeneland race meet. The previous record of 22 was set by D. Wayne Lukas in the fall of 1989. It is the second Keeneland training title for Maker, who topped the rankings in the fall of 2008.

4/26/13 - DARK COVE, claimed by Mike for $50,000 last year, takes the Elkhorn G2 at Keeneland, smashing Keeneland's trainer record and the owner record for the Ramseys.

4/26/13 - DARK COVE joins other horses Mike has claimed which have gone on to graded stakes wins - including Ramsey color bearers FURTHEST LAND (MGSW including the BREEDERS' CUP MILE. G1), ACCREDIT (G2), HEADACHE (MGSW G2), KINDERGARDEN KID (G3), and LONESOME STREET (G2)

4/24/13 - Mike breaks the record at Keeneland for victories during the spring meet and now has a total of 19.

4/20/13 - 3 wins at Keeneland today including an allowance win by Awesome Flower for the Ramseys and two additional wins for them by Suyeta and Scealeile. This has put the Ramseys well on their way to their 12th title as Keeneland’s leading owner, which includes a sweep of last year’s spring and fall race meets.

4/19/13 - Multiple stakes winner ARTEMUS KITTEN ran third in the Doubledogdare Stakes - Gr. 3 at Keeneland. She has earned over $230,000 for her owners the Ramseys. On the same day Animal Style, claimed for $25,000 for the Ramseys won a $64,000 allowance race also at Keeneland. Another highly successful claim, he has won the Van Berg Stakes at the Fair Grounds and was second in the Black Gold for his new connections.

3/16/13 - Mike gets his 1,000th win!

3/11/13 - Brazilian Court, a 3 year old Harlan's Holiday colt ran second in the OBS Championship (Colt and Gelding Division) Stakes and was just out finished for the win . He is owned by the Ramsey's.

3/9/13 - SW GHOST IS CLEAR owned and trained by Mike, closed well to be third in the Duncan F. Kenner S. at the Fair Grounds. He has earned over $160,000.

3/2/13 - Mike had a great weekend with MSW ARTEMUS KITTEN winning the Jersey Lily S. at Sam Houston for the Ramseys and raising her earnings to a tick under 1/4 million and SW ANIMAL STYLE running second in the Black Gold at the Fairgrounds despite racing wide also for the Ramseys. Last out ANIMAL STYLE won the Van Verg S. at the Fair Grounds.

2/19/13 - Ramsey homebred Fear the Kitten, c , 3, Kitten's Joy - Dynarhythm by Dynaformer added more black type to his page, running second in the Southwest S. G3. Last out he was third in the LeCompte G3 at the Fair Grounds.

2/2/13 - SW KITTEN's DUMPLINGS is now graded stakes placed, running second in the G3 Florida Oaks at Tampa Bay. She is a homebred for the Ramseys.

1/5/13 - Three year old Smokinindaboysroom, ran second in the Turfway Prevue holding on well for the place after prompting the pace. He is owned by Skychai Racing LLC, Sand Dollar Stable LLC, C. Apostelos. and Kendal Hansen.

12/29/12 - Graded staked placed stakes winner GUNG HO, c. 3 ( Kitten's Joy - Glory Dancer, by Honour and Glory) ran third in the Holiday Cheer Stakes at Turfway. He is a Ramsey homebred. He came wide but could not catch the leaders.

12/15/12 - SW and Multiple Graded Stakes placed TWINSPIRED, c,. 4 (Harlan's Holiday - Historical Drive, by El Prado (IRE)) can from far off the pace to be second in the Prairie Bayou S. at Turfway. He is approaching $350,000 in earnings for owners Alpha Stables, Skychai Racing LLC and Sand Dollar Stable LLC.

12/1/12 - Mike wore a path to the Winner's Circle at Gulfstream. BROTHER BIRD took the Claiming Crown Iron Horse S, BERNIE THE MAESTRO scored in the Claiming Crown Rapid Transit ( with Won Fast Bullet third), STARSILHOUETTE took the Claiming Crown Tiara S. and PARENT'S HONOR won the Claiming Crown Jewel S.all for the Ramseys. In addition, MAJOR MARVEL ran second in the Emerald S. also for the Ramseys. Mile wears this crown for sure.

11/17/12 - $35,000 claim pays off again. KING DAVID won the G1 Jamaica last month and this time he was second in the Commonwealth Turf Stakes - Gr. 3 closing well after contending with traffic.

11/10/12 - Mike had two Kitten's Joy two year old stakes winners at Retama Park. ADMIRAL KITTEN won the El Joven S  to remain unbeaten in two starts and KITTEN'S DUMPLINGS won the M2 Technology La Senorita S. Both are homebreds for the Ramseys.

10/28/12 - JOHA is entered in the G1 BC Juvenile Turf for owner Bluegrass Equine Bloodstock, LLC. He drew post position 10. With morning-line odds are 6-1,
he is co- second choice with Noble Tune. European invader Dundonnell is the luke warm favorite.

10/18/12 - KINDERGARDEN KID steps up and captures the Sycamore S, G3 at Keeneland.

10/6/12 - Trainer Mike Maker had a Grade I double: The G1 Jamaica and the G1 Dixiana Breeders' Futurity.

9/29/12 - Recently claimed by Mike for the Ramseys, KINDERGARDEN KID ran third in the G1- Joe Hirsch Turf Classic Invitational at Belmont.

9/8/12 - Mike Maker trained ALWAYS KITTEN breaks her maiden in the $100,000 Happy Ticket S.at Louisiana Downs
. On the same day, Kamchatka ran third in the Sunday Silence S also at Louisiana Downs.

8/30/12 - JOHA, winner of the Colin Stakes at Woodbine last out, almost got it done again in the With Anticipation S. at Saratoga. He missed by a head after leading the whole way. He is owned by Wade M. Wacker and was bred by BEC Bloodstock. He has earned $185,767 in 5 starts with 2 wins, 2 seconds and a third.

1/29/12- Champion HANSEN ends up second in the Holy Bull after a stumble at the start.
“Everything’s well, he didn’t grab a quarter or anything,” Maker said. “We were second best. He’ll probably benefit from the race. It’s called a prep race for a reason.”

1/28/12 - Mike got his weekend off to a good start with PAPAW BODIE's, strong win in the John B. Connally Turf Cup Stakes - Gr.3. Owned by Connie M Apostelos, PAPAW BODIE has now won four straight. . He has earnings of $ 257,211 and has a total of six wins in 15 starts. On the same day, Kentucky Cup Sprint S.(G3) winner MATHEWSBURG, almost got it done in the Forego S. at Turfway. He made a bold move and missed the win by a head and a neck. He is owned by F. Thomas Conway and Matt Conway.

-Old Colt! Despite anticipation of a close Eclipse race, Hansen won handily. He received 194 votes, compared to the 52 garnered by Union Rags. Secret Circle and Overdriven got one vote apiece.
