The Lemon Drop Kid runner shot through on the rail under jockey Florent Geroux and held off rallying Kaigun by half a length to claim the $250,000 Elkhorn Stakes (gr. IIT) at Keeneland. He added the 1 1/2-mile turf race to a resume that includes wins in the John B. Connally Turf (gr. IIIT) and Kentucky Turf Cup (gr. IIIT). "He's a very neat horse," Geroux said. "When there's an opening he can shoot through very quickly, and that made the difference today. When I was able to see the opening at the top of the stretch, my horse kicked through and kept on going."
